            Annual Open Day

            Geoscience Australia's annual Open Day is an excellent opportunity to visit our building and learn about what we do. The 2008 Open Day was held on Sunday the 12th October to launch the start of Earth Science Week celebrations around the country.

            The 2009 Open Day will be held in Earth Science Week (11-17th October). Date to be confirmed. Open Day is an annual event that allows the community the opportunity to discover what we do and learn about the variety of Geosciences. The day will include a range of activities including:

            Science and career displays

            Explore science through various activities and talks about what kinds of careers are available.

            Bring your own rocks for identification

            Experts will identify rock samples from around the country.

            Pan for gold, sieve for sapphires

            Learn how to pan for gold and sieve for sapphires. You might strike it lucky!

            A variety of talks based on up and coming Geoscience will be presented throughout the day. Check here closer to the date for more details.
